Role Description

The Architect is responsible for developing architectural concepts, preparing design proposals, and coordinating building design activities to create functional, aesthetically appealing, and sustainable spaces. This role combines creative design, technical documentation, spatial planning, material selection, regulatory coordination, and project collaboration to ensure that architectural solutions meet client requirements and established design standards.

Architectural design responsibilities include developing design concepts, preparing preliminary sketches, creating floor plans, and producing detailed architectural drawings for residential, commercial, institutional, and other building projects. The architect evaluates spatial requirements, circulation patterns, building layouts, lighting conditions, and material options to develop practical and visually cohesive design solutions. Duties also include preparing design presentations, developing three-dimensional models, reviewing design alternatives, and incorporating feedback from clients and project stakeholders.

Technical documentation responsibilities involve preparing architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, and supporting documents for design development and construction coordination. The architect ensures that drawings are clear, consistent, and aligned with project requirements. Additional duties include reviewing dimensions, checking design details, coordinating drawing revisions, and maintaining accurate project documentation. The role also involves considering building codes, accessibility requirements, safety standards, environmental considerations, and relevant planning regulations when developing architectural proposals.

Project coordination responsibilities include collaborating with structural engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, contractors, interior designers, consultants, and other project participants. The architect communicates design requirements, coordinates technical information, reviews proposed modifications, and helps resolve design-related issues. Duties may include participating in project meetings, reviewing construction drawings, assessing material submissions, responding to technical queries, and monitoring design changes to ensure consistency with the approved architectural intent.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture or a related architectural design discipline.
• Understanding of architectural design principles, spatial planning, building construction, and design development.
• Ability to prepare architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, specifications, and design presentations.
• Familiarity with architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, or comparable design applications.
• Knowledge of building materials, construction methods, dimensional coordination, and architectural detailing.
• Understanding of applicable building regulations, accessibility requirements, safety standards, and planning principles.
• Ability to develop design concepts and translate project requirements into practical architectural solutions.
• Strong visual communication skills, including the ability to create drawings, models, and presentation materials.
