Architect I

Headquartered in Somerville, MA with offices in Toronto, Jerusalem, Singapore and Shanghai to support ongoing projects, Safdie Architects is constantly engaged in the design of a diverse range of projects in terms of building type, scale and geographic location. Current work in design and construction includes an expansion of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore; several master planning and mixed-use developments in the USA and Canada; several large scale master plans in Saudi Arabia; an embassy in Africa and a heritage center in the American Midwest.

Safdie Architects is seeking a licensed Architect I with 5-10 years of experience with exceptional design, communication, and interpersonal skills to join our design practice. This is a full-time, in-studio position.

Key responsibilities include:

The Architect I works directly with the firm’s Partners to develop design concepts and architectural ideas, shares in the responsibility for organizing and coordinating the efforts of all members of the design team, including outside consultant team members.

Prerequisites:

• Minimum five years of professional experience, plus licensure

• Experience in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite and rendering software (Enscape, Lumion, V-Ray) required

• Working knowledge of Revit and experience with BIM required

• Experience in the production of concept, schematic design, and design development documents required

• Experience with the design and detailing of large-scale, programmatically complex, public and private architectural projects preferred

• Strong technical knowledge of both rational and complex geometries preferred

• Experience in leading teams of junior staff required

• Demonstrated design sensibility

• Excellent visual and verbal communication skills

Salary range: $80,000–$90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
