Architectural Designer / Technologist

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Architectural Designer / Technologist to join our innovative design team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of architectural design, construction methods, and the Ontario Building Code, with the ability to translate design concepts into accurate, detailed construction drawings.

You will work closely with our design team, engineers, contractors, and clients to support projects from initial planning through permitting and construction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, construction details, and permit drawing packages.
• Develop accurate existing-condition drawings through on-site measurements and documentation.
• Prepare drawings for residential renovations, additions, new builds, and commercial projects.
• Ensure drawings comply with the Ontario Building Code, applicable zoning bylaws, and municipal requirements.
• Coordinate drawings and technical requirements with engineers, consultants, contractors, and municipal building departments.
• Assist with building permit applications, revisions, and responses to municipal comments.
• Review architectural plans for accuracy, constructability, and coordination with interior design elements.
• Participate in site visits to verify dimensions, review existing conditions, and address construction-related questions.
• Collaborate with our interior design team to integrate architectural and interior design details.

Experience

• Required: Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge and practical application of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), National Building Code of Canada (NBC), and municipal zoning by-laws
• Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architectural Design, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Revit or other architectural drafting software is an asset.
• BCIN qualification is a strong asset.
• Experience preparing permit-ready construction drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to attend site visits as required.

Pay: $55,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
