Architectural Drafter (Millwork Focus)

Established commercial and residential construction company based in Manhattan is seeking a strong Architectural Drafter with millwork experience to support our project teams from preconstruction through completion.

We need someone who can turn design intent into drawings that actually build — producing and redlining detailed shop drawings, coordinating millwork packages, and catching conflicts before they reach the field. This is a hands-on role in a contractor-driven environment: practical construction knowledge matters as much as CAD skill.

Responsibilities

• Produce, revise, and redline detailed architectural drawings, millwork shop drawings, and submittals
• Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings for coordination and constructability
• Review millwork shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs; coordinate directly with millwork vendors and cabinetmakers
• Prepare sketches, details, field-measure notes, and as-built drawings from site visits
• Identify design conflicts and missing information before construction begins
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and consultants

Qualifications

• 5+ years of drafting experience in architecture, construction, design-build, or a millwork/cabinetry shop
• Real millwork knowledge — how custom cabinetry, paneling, and casework are actually built and installed, not just how they render
• Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or similar millwork software a strong plus; Revit a plus
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP plans
• Familiarity with AWI standards
• NYC construction and permitting experience preferred
• Organized, detail-oriented, able to run multiple projects at once

The work
In-office in Manhattan with regular job-site visits. You will be the drawing authority our field teams rely on. Pay is DOE, hours and schedule can be flexible. MUST HAVE NEW YORK EXPERIENCE.
