Architectural Draftsman

JOB PURPOSE

The Architectural Draftsman will prepare accurate and complete architectural shop drawings and construction documentation across the full range of building works, and coordinate these with structural, mechanical, electrical, and sanitary disciplines. The role requires broad, practical architectural drafting experience — covering reflected ceiling plans (RCP), flooring layouts, finishes, detailing, and multidisciplinary coordination drawings — rather than specialization in a single scope such as stone, marble, or granite cladding.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare complete sets of architectural shop drawings, including reflected ceiling plan (RCP) drawings, flooring layouts, and finishes/finishing schedules and details.
• Develop architectural detailing and construction documentation covering walls, partitions, doors, joinery, and other building elements.
• Prepare coordination drawings between architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and sanitary (MEPS) disciplines, identifying and resolving clashes prior to construction.
• Support multidisciplinary coordination meetings, incorporating markups and comments from other engineering disciplines into architectural drawings.
• Convert approved design drawings into fully coordinated, construction-ready shop drawings.
• Review consultant and design drawings to confirm technical accuracy and constructability before issuing for construction.
• Prepare and update as-built drawings based on site conditions and approved variations.
• Respond to RFIs (requests for information) with accurate technical drawings and details.
• Coordinate with site engineering and other drafting teams to ensure drawings reflect actual site conditions and sequencing.
• Maintain organized, up-to-date drawing registers and revision records.
• Ensure all drafting output is fully documented and compliant with company procedures and project specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in architectural drafting on building construction projects.
• Demonstrated practical experience preparing RCP, flooring, and finishing shop drawings.
• Demonstrated experience preparing architectural/structural/MEP coordination drawings and resolving multidisciplinary clashes.
• Broad architectural drafting background is required; candidates with experience limited to a single specialty (e.g., stone, marble, or granite/cladding detailing) without general architectural shop-drawing experience will not meet the requirements of this role.
• UAE construction experience is preferred.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit for architectural drafting.
• Solid working knowledge of RCP, flooring, and finishing shop-drawing requirements.
• Practical understanding of coordination drawings and clash resolution across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
• Ability to clearly explain and apply architectural detailing and construction documentation standards, not only recite them from a CV.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings.
• Effective communication and coordination skills across design, engineering, and site functions.
