Architectural Draftsman

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Architectural Draftsman to prepare detailed architectural drawings for building and steel construction projects. The candidate should be able to convert design concepts and approved drawings into coordinated shop drawings, resolve drawing conflicts, and support the project from submission through site execution and as-built documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare architectural plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, schedules, and construction details using AutoCAD.
• Produce coordinated shop drawings for industrial buildings, warehouses, commercial buildings, façades, canopies, staircases, handrails, mezzanine floors, and other architectural or structural elements as applicable to the project.
• Develop detailed drawings showing dimensions, levels, materials, finishes, fixing arrangements, and interfaces with adjacent works.
• Review IFC drawings, tender drawings, specifications, material submittals, and consultant comments before preparing shop drawings.
• Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, civil, MEP, façade, and steel fabrication drawings to identify clashes or missing information.
• Raise RFIs and technical queries where drawings, dimensions, specifications, or site conditions are unclear.
• Revise drawings in response to consultant feedback and maintain accurate records of revisions and approvals.
• Coordinate with design engineers, project engineers, site teams, and fabrication teams to ensure drawings are practical for manufacturing and installation.
• Incorporate site measurements and approved changes into fabrication and installation drawings.
• Prepare material take-offs, drawing registers, and as-built drawings when required.
• Follow project drafting standards, document control procedures, and drawing submission schedules.
• Check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before issuing them for review or construction.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of architectural drafting experience in construction projects; UAE experience is preferred.
• Strong experience preparing architectural shop drawings and construction details.
• Experience with steel structures, industrial buildings, façades, cladding, or architectural metal works is an advantage.
• A portfolio or sample of completed shop drawings may be requested during the interview.

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Working knowledge of Revit is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
• Sound understanding of construction detailing, materials, levels, tolerances, and site coordination.
• Ability to prepare clear sections and enlarged details for complex connections and interfaces.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard drawing/document control practices.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, can manage drawing deadlines, and communicates clearly with engineering and site teams. They should be comfortable reviewing incomplete or conflicting information, seeking clarification, and producing accurate drawings that can be used for approval, fabrication, and installation.
