Architectural Draftsman

Position Summary: The Architectural Draftsman will be responsible for producing detailed architectural drawings and plans to support the design and construction of buildings and structures. This role requires a thorough understanding of architectural principles, design standards, and construction methods. The Architectural Draftsman will work closely with architects and engineers to ensure that designs are accurately represented and adhere to project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Drafting and Design:

• Create detailed architectural drawings and blueprints using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and site plans.
• Develop and update design drawings based on architectural concepts, sketches, and project requirements.
• Prepare presentation drawings and diagrams for client reviews and project meetings.

2. Collaboration and Coordination:

• Work closely with architects, project managers, and other design professionals to interpret and incorporate design requirements into technical drawings.
• Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to ensure that all design elements are accurately integrated into the architectural plans.
• Address and incorporate feedback and revisions from project stakeholders, ensuring that all changes are reflected in the drawings.

3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Ensure that all drawings comply with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Conduct thorough reviews of drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submission or distribution.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of architectural standards and best practices.

4. Documentation and Record Keeping:

• Maintain organized records of all architectural drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
• Prepare and manage drawing sets, ensuring proper version control and documentation of all changes.
• Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including reports, specifications, and presentations.

5. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:

• Identify and resolve issues or discrepancies in architectural drawings or design documents.
• Collaborate with the project team to address design challenges and implement effective solutions.

6. Communication:

• Provide clear and effective communication regarding design concepts, drawing specifications, and project requirements to stakeholders.
• Prepare and present design-related information to clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies as required.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate’s degree or diploma in Architectural Drafting, Architectural Technology, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field is advantageous.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience as an Architectural Draftsman or in a similar role, with a portfolio demonstrating a range of completed architectural projects.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• Strong understanding of architectural design principles, construction methods, and building codes.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawing.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot design issues.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Certifications:

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Drafter) are a plus but not required.

Working Conditions:

• The role is primarily office-based but may require occasional site visits to gather information or verify details.
• The position involves extended periods of working at a computer.
