Job Description

AAAS is currently seeking a detail-oriented Architectural Engineer to join our architecture team in Abu Dhabi. The Architectural Engineer will support the design and supervision teams by preparing architectural design documents, reviewing technical submissions, and ensuring that architectural works comply with project specifications, local authority requirements, and the firm’s design standards.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and develop architectural design drawings, details, schedules, and presentation materials from concept through to construction documentation.
• Assist in the preparation and review of architectural specifications, material schedules, and finishes schedules.
• Coordinate architectural design requirements with internal teams and external consultants to ensure design integration.
• Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, samples, and mock-ups for compliance with the approved architectural design intent.
• Conduct site inspections for architectural works, including blockwork, plastering, tiling, painting, ceilings, joinery, façade systems, glazing, roofing, and waterproofing.
• Verify that delivered and installed architectural materials match approved submittals and project specifications.
• Identify architectural defects, non-conforming workmanship, or deviations from contract documents and report them to the Senior Architect / Design Manager / Resident Engineer.
• Prepare daily and periodic inspection reports with photographic records and maintain accurate logs of site observations.
• Monitor contractor works for adherence to approved method statements, inspection and test plans, and project quality requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi Municipality / DMT / local authority requirements and relevant international architectural standards.
• Support the design team with technical queries, RFIs, and design-related site issues.
• Maintain proper documentation and filing of architectural drawings, submittals, and inspection records.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or Architecture.
• 5 to 10 years of architectural experience, preferably on the Engineering Consultant / Supervision side.
• UAE / GCC experience is required, with an understanding of Abu Dhabi Municipality / DMT / local authority requirements.
• Comprehensive knowledge of architectural detailing, building finishes, façade systems, waterproofing, and construction documentation.
• Ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference design drawings, IFC drawings, approved shop drawings, and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with international architectural standards and local building codes.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong professional communication skills in English; Arabic is an asset.
• Good coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
