What they need

At Bright Futures, we champion the potential of every person with autism and a learning disability, believing wholeheartedly in their ability to thrive and lead the most fulfilling lives. We’re looking for an Area Manager to join our team and support our Adult residential sites.

We are a specialist provider of residential care and education for children, young people and adults with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs. Our aim is simple: to create the right environments, support and opportunities for people to thrive, develop their independence and live the life they choose.

We’re looking for an experienced and values-led Area Manager to provide visible, supportive and strategic leadership across a portfolio of our adult residential services.

This is a role for someone who can see the bigger picture while understanding what great practice looks like on the ground. You’ll work closely with Registered Managers, senior leaders and specialist teams to ensure our services are safe, compliant, well-led and consistently delivering excellent outcomes for the people we support.

  • Provide a visible and supportive leadership presence across your services, building strong relationships with Registered Managers and care teams.
  • Coach, supervise and develop Registered Managers, supporting them to achieve their full potential.
  • Ensure services meet CQC regulations and relevant legislation, maintaining strong governance, quality assurance and compliance.
  • Monitor performance, identify trends and use data and insight to drive continuous improvement across your area.
  • Support services to deliver person-centred care, strong outcomes and a culture that listens to and responds to the voices of the people we support, their families and our colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Quality, Clinical, PBS and other senior teams to address operational, quality and compliance priorities.
  • Support the development and opening of new services, including regulatory readiness, workforce planning, recruitment, training and induction.
  • Work closely with the Regional Directors on referrals, placement matching and transition planning to ensure new placements are safe, appropriate and well planned.
  • Respond effectively to regulatory, commissioning and external audit recommendations, ensuring actions are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Promote learning, good practice and innovation across your area, celebrating success as well as identifying opportunities to improve.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and professional practice.
  • Where required, lead on employee investigations and formal disciplinary processes.
  • Participate in a 24/7 second-line on-call rota alongside other Area Managers.

About you

You’ll be an experienced care leader with a strong understanding of CQC regulation, quality assurance and residential adult social care.

You’ll be confident leading through others and have the ability to challenge constructively, build trust and support Registered Managers to deliver high standards.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • An experienced leader within adult social care, ideally with experience across multiple residential services.
  • Highly knowledgeable about CQC regulations, compliance and quality assurance.
  • Passionate about person-centred care and achieving meaningful outcomes for people with autism and learning disabilities.
  • A confident coach who can develop and motivate Registered Managers and wider teams.
  • Comfortable using data, audits and performance information to identify risks and drive improvement.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities across multiple services.
  • A strong communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Calm, reliable and solutions-focused, with the ability to respond effectively when challenges arise.
  • Someone who leads by example and genuinely lives our values.

At Bright Futures, we make a real difference in the lives of young people and adults with autism, special educational and complex needs. Through our dedicated and expert team, we deliver outstanding care and education.
