What they need
Area Manager – West Auckland | Talk
Build your own business. Make a real difference. Enjoy the freedom.
Are you an ECE superstar ready for your next big opportunity? Do you love building relationships, making things happen, and having the freedom to shape your own working life?
This could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
At Talk, we’re not your typical education recruitment agency. We’re a team of people who genuinely care about educators, tamariki, and the centres and schools we work alongside throughout Aotearoa.
We know how important great Kaiako are. Our job is to connect amazing educators with opportunities that fit their lives, bring the joy back into teaching, and help centres find the right people when they need them most.
We’re passionate about what we do, we love a bit of fun, and we believe great relationships are at the heart of everything.
Now, we’re looking for an ambitious, relationship-driven Area Manager to grow our West Auckland region.
Your region. Your relationships. Your opportunity.
At Talk, we do things differently. Our Area Managers operate as Independent Contractors, giving them the opportunity to build and grow their own regional recruitment business, with the backing of an established brand, proven systems, an existing client base, and a supportive national team.
You’ll have the autonomy to manage your time, work from home, get out into the community, and build strong relationships with centres and educators across West Auckland.
And the best part? Your earning potential grows with the business you build.
This is a 100% commission-based opportunity for someone who is motivated, commercially minded, and excited by the idea of creating something of their own—with Talk behind them.
What will you be doing?
Building relationships that matter
Connecting with centre managers, owners, and educators every day.
Providing outstanding customer care and matching quality relievers with the right centres and finding great permanent staff.
Filling daily bookings as well as longer-term relief and permanent staffing requirements.
Building trusted, lasting relationships through great communication and follow-through.
Being the person your clients and candidates know they can count on.
Growing your West Auckland business
Getting out and meeting centres, building connections, and uncovering new opportunities.
Making proactive calls and visiting centres to introduce Talk and show centres how we can help.
Growing existing client relationships and developing new ones.
Building your regional recruitment portfolio and reputation.
Turning great conversations into long-term partnerships and business growth.
Keeping things running smoothly
Coordinating morning bookings from home, generally between 6:30 am and 10:30 am.
Managing evening coordination from home, approximately 6:00 pm to 8 pm, depending on demand.
Staying responsive to clients, candidates, and booking needs throughout the day, with flexibility to organise your daytime activities.
Using Talk’s technology and systems to make recruitment easier, leaving more time to focus on people.
No two days are the same. It’s fast-paced, rewarding, and perfect for someone who enjoys taking ownership and making things happen.
What’s in it for you?
Help to get you started, and ongoing recruitment professional development support.
100% commission-based earnings with no fixed salary cap on your earning potential.
Freedom and flexibility to organise your working day around your business and lifestyle, while meeting the needs of clients and candidates.
Work from home or your favourite local café, with regular visits to centres and educators.
Full training and onboarding, plus ongoing support from an experienced team.
Established systems and technology to help you manage bookings, relationships, and business growth.
A genuine long-term business opportunity with the potential to build a substantial ECE recruitment portfolio.
We want people who are excited to grow, take ownership, and share in the success they create.
Could this be you?
You might be a current or former Centre Manager, 2IC, ECE teacher, or someone with a strong education background who is ready to take their experience in a new direction.
You’ll bring:
A genuine passion for education and supporting Kaiako.
Ambition, energy, initiative, and a strong desire to succeed.
Excellent communication skills and confidence picking up the phone.
A natural ability to build relationships and deliver outstanding customer service.
The confidence to develop new business, including making cold calls and meeting prospective clients.
Good organisation skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to work independently.
Confidence with technology and the willingness to learn new systems.
Empathy, resilience, and the ability to be both approachable and assertive when needed.
A valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel around the Wellington region.
Current residence in New Zealand and the legal right to work here.
ECE experience is essential, particularly if you understand the day-to-day challenges of running a centre and finding great educators.
Recruitment experience is helpful, but just as important is your attitude, relationship-building ability, and appetite for business growth.
Ready to take the next step?
Imagine building a business around your strengths, creating relationships that make a difference, and having the freedom to shape your own future.
At Talk, you won’t be doing it alone. You’ll have an established brand, a team that wants you to succeed, and the opportunity to make your mark.
If you’re ready to back yourself, we’d love to talk!
