Armed Security Officer — Current SLED Armed Certification Required
Job Type: Full-Time & Part-Time
Location: In-Person (Charleston, SC)
About Omega Guard Services
Omega Guard Services provides professional, hospitality-focused security for residential communities, commercial properties, schools, hospitality venues, and other client locations throughout Charleston. Our officers are trained, supported, and held to clear standards. We do not do “warm body” security.
If you are dependable, professional, and take pride in doing things the right way, Omega may be a great fit.
Position Overview
Armed Security Officers at Omega protect people, property, and client operations while maintaining a calm, professional, and welcoming presence. This role requires sound judgment, strong situational awareness, and the maturity to carry a firearm responsibly.
Our approach emphasizes prevention, communication, and de-escalation. Armed officers must exercise restraint, understand the limits of their authority, and consistently follow company policies, post orders, and training.
Applicants must already hold current, valid SLED armed security certification and successfully complete Omega’s Operational Readiness Standard (ORS) assessment before assignment to an armed post. This position does not offer initial armed certification for uncertified applicants.
New hires complete a structured onboarding process, including review of company policies, verification of credentials, the ORS assessment, site-specific post orders, and supervised on-site training.
What We’re Looking For
We are selective by design. Successful Omega armed officers are:
- Reliable and punctual, with dependable attendance
- Professional in appearance, communication, and conduct
- Calm under pressure, with strong situational awareness
- Capable of making sound decisions and exercising restraint
- Comfortable enforcing rules respectfully and consistently
- Committed to safe firearm handling and secure equipment retention
- Coachable and willing to follow established procedures
- Hospitality-minded, approachable, and skilled at de-escalating conflict
Prior armed security, military, or law enforcement experience is preferred. All applicants must meet the current SLED armed certification requirement and pass Omega’s ORS assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on assignment, duties may include:
- Maintaining a visible, professional armed security presence
- Conducting patrols and securing doors, gates, and common areas
- Managing access and verifying identification or authorization
- Identifying suspicious activity, safety hazards, and potential threats
- Enforcing property policies respectfully and consistently
- De-escalating conflicts and requesting additional support when needed
- Responding to incidents and emergencies within training, legal authority, and company policy
- Coordinating with supervisors, client representatives, law enforcement, and emergency responders
- Writing accurate, timely incident and activity reports
- Providing professional, service-oriented interactions with guests, residents, employees, and visitors
- Maintaining control of authorized firearms and duty equipment at all times
Training & Standards
Omega operates under clearly defined standards and expectations:
- Verification of current SLED armed credentials before placement
- Successful completion of Omega’s Operational Readiness Standard (ORS) assessment before armed assignment
- Mandatory company onboarding and site-specific training
- Demonstrated firearms proficiency and safe handling
- Continued compliance with required firearms qualifications, credential renewals, and company training
- Strict adherence to firearms safety, de-escalation, and use-of-force policies
- Ongoing evaluations tied to performance, reliability, judgment, and professionalism
- Clear attendance and conduct policies
Current certification alone does not guarantee placement in an armed assignment. Officers must meet Omega’s operational standards.
We invest heavily in ongoing training and expect the same level of commitment from our team.
