ART HANDLER

About the role

The Art Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, packing, and transportation of artwork. He/She works with museums, galleries, and collectors to prepare artwork for exhibition or storage, and is responsible for ensuring the artwork is properly secured and protected during transit. The Art Handler works closely with clients and other team members to ensure a high level of customer service is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Pack and unpack artwork safely and efficiently
• Install and de-install artwork in exhibition spaces
• Handle artwork with the utmost care and attention to detail
• Transport artwork using company vehicles, including trucks and vans
• Operate equipment including drills, lifts, monitors, video players, lights, etc.
• Install and remove exhibition walls and panels
• Use proper materials and techniques to prepare artwork for shipment or storage
• Maintain proper inventory of artwork while in transit
• Follow proper security procedures to ensure artwork is protected at all times
• Communicate with clients to ensure a high level of customer service during pickup/delivery/installation

About you

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least 2 years of experience working as an art handler or similar position
• Knowledge of proper handling, packing, and transportation techniques for artwork
• Ability to operate equipment such as drills, lifts, monitors, video players, lights, etc.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed
• Able to drive 4-wheel vehicles professionally would be an advantage
