Art Handler

Overview
We need one EXPERIENCED art handler who has worked with fragile museum pieces. Do not apply if you do not have experience! This position is 2 days per week and offers an exciting opportunity to work behind the scenes at a museum, ensuring that each piece is handled with utmost care.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and pack artworks, sculptures, and exhibition materials using appropriate tools and equipment
• Maintain detailed records of artwork movement, condition reports, and inventory logs
• Collaborate with art professionals to ensure proper environmental controls and security measures are maintained during handling and packing
• Photograph all objects
• Assess any need for conservation

Minimum Skills

• Experience working in the exhibits and/or collections departments of a museum.
• Strong knowledge of art handling best practices and safety procedures
• Proficiency in collections management software and tracking software
• Skilled in photography
• Ability to perform detailed artwork condition assessments and documentation
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
