Role Overview

We are seeking a credentialed art therapist to provide group art therapy services to our clients on a contract basis. As an Art Therapist Instructor at NOTA Fitness & Wellness Solutions, you will lead participants and combine psychotherapy with creative art-making to help clients express emotions, process trauma, and improve their overall well-being. Provide an outlet and guide individuals or groups in using mediums like drawing, painting, sculpting, and collaging to explore feelings. You will create an inviting space where guests can relax, socialize, and explore their creativity while enjoying light refreshments. You will work independently, manage your own caseload within agreed parameters, and collaborate with our team as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Art Instruction: Conduct intake and art-based assessments and develop individualized treatment plans. Facilitate individual and/or group art therapy sessions, in person and/or via telehealth.
• Event Setup & Preparation: Prepare canvases, paints, brushes, and other supplies before each session. Ensure the venue is arranged for an inviting and organized experience.
• Engaging Host: Greet guests warmly, provide aprons, and set a positive and encouraging tone for the event.
• Encouragement & Support: Assist guests in their creative process, offering individual guidance and motivation.
• Social Media & Promotion: Capture photos and short videos for promotional use on social media platforms. Encourage guests to share their experiences. Select and adapt art media and directives to each client’s needs, abilities, and goals.
• Clean-Up & Organization: Ensure a smooth post-event breakdown, properly cleaning brushes, palettes, and other materials while maintaining a tidy event space.
• Collaboration: Work alongside other team members to enhance the overall experience and ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Degree in Art Therapy or closely related field with art therapy coursework. Strong artistic skills.
• Experience in facilitating telehealth art therapy preferred.
• Experience working with hospitals, schools, community mental health.
• Outgoing and engaging personality with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
• Experience with trauma-informed care, CBT, mindfulness-based, or expressive arts approaches
• Punctuality, reliability, and strong organizational skills.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
• Reliable transportation to and from event locations.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
