Our client is a fast-growing consumer technology company building mobile apps primarily for the US market. With around 60 people and €40M ARR last year, they are continuing to scale quickly.

They are looking for an AI Engineer to build AI tools, agents and automations for their marketing team.

This isn't a traditional Machine Learning or Data Science role. The focus is much more practical: identifying problems within marketing and building AI-powered tools that solve them.

The key requirement is hands-on experience building tools or automations that have actually been used by a marketing team. They want to understand what you built, what problem it solved and the impact it had.

You'll be the first engineer dedicated to this area, reporting to the CTO and working closely with Marketing and Marketing Data. It's a high-ownership role where you'll have the freedom to identify opportunities and build solutions from zero.

What we are looking for

• Strong software engineering and programming skills, ideally Python or a similar backend language
• Experience building AI-powered tools, agents or automations for marketing teams
• Good understanding of consumer marketing, particularly paid acquisition and performance marketing
• Familiarity with platforms such as Meta, TikTok and Google
• Understanding of how marketing teams create, test and iterate advertising creatives
• Experience working with LLMs, APIs, tool/function calling, workflow automation or similar technologies
• Experience taking tools from an idea or prototype into real production use
• A track record of creating measurable impact: saving time, increasing creative output, improving campaign analysis or automating manual workflows

What you'll be doing

• Building AI agents, automations and internal tools for the marketing team
• Working directly with Marketing and Marketing Data to identify workflows that can be improved or automated
• Building solutions across paid acquisition, creative production, campaign operations and marketing analytics
• Connecting AI systems with internal data, APIs, advertising platforms and third-party tools
• Taking ideas from initial problem through development, deployment and adoption
• Measuring how your tools are being used and continuously improving them

What matters beyond the tech

• Strong communication skills are essential for this role. We’re looking for someone who is direct, articulate and able to structure and communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
• We're looking for someone with a strong zero-to-one mentality who is comfortable owning problems end-to-end.
• You should be able to understand a business problem, turn it into a practical technical solution and communicate your ideas clearly and concisely.
• Experience in a consumer app, B2C technology company, start-up or similarly performance-driven environment would be particularly relevant.
• Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys building useful things that people actually use, rather than AI experiments that never make it into production.
