Artificial Intelligence Engineer

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participates in industrialization and scaling up of successful advanced analytics & AI solution prototypes into IT products.
• Develops generalized frameworks, components, patterns and libraries for repetitive data science activities and AI workflows.
• Manages code in GitHub repositories and performs peer code reviews.
• Builds and deploys production-ready AI systems using Python, LangGraph and LangChain on the AWS cloud platform.
• Architects and implements AI agents to support marketing, brand building and market analysis processes in the Consumer Health organization, and later other functional areas (e.g., product supply, commercial, R&D).
• Collaborates effectively within a cross-functional environment, working with Data Scientists, MLOps Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Data Architects, Cloud Architects, Product Managers and Business Stakeholders to ensure AI solutions align with business objectives.
• Supports the industrialization of classical machine learning solutions such as forecasting, recommendation and optimization models.
• Fosters a culture of continuous learning within the data science & AI engineering team by participating in workshops and training sessions to share knowledge and skills.
• Acts as a subject matter expert in software development and AI engineering, advising on best practices and emerging technologies that enhance Bayer Consumer Health’s AI capabilities.

WHO YOU ARE

• Master’s or PhD degree with 3+ years of experience in AI Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or Machine Learning Engineering.
• Advanced Python programming skills and web development expertise.
• Experience with web frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Django.
• Good understanding of CI/CD principles, particularly GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency with AWS services including S3, Glue, Athena, Sagemaker, Bedrock, Lambda, ECS/EKS/ECR/Fargate, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, CloudWatch, IAM, Secrets Manager and SSM Parameter Store.
• Expertise in Docker containerization.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB).
• Strong object‑oriented programming skills focused on production‑grade code.
• General understanding of Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation and AI agent architectures.
• Demonstrated experience in AI agent system design and implementation.
• Strong API development and integration capabilities.
• Interest in GenAI technologies such as vector databases, information retrieval methods and LLM evaluation frameworks.
• Preferred: experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation/CDK).
• Preferred: hands‑on experience with AI frameworks and tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, LangFuse, LightRAG.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including active listening, consulting, challenging and presentation skills.
• Fluent in English and Chinese, both written and spoken.
