Artificial Intelligence Engineer

We are seeking a AI Software Engineer role in Austin, TX, for a Contract.

Onsite 4-5 days a week

Leads the design, development, and delivery of artificial intelligence, automation, and rapid application development solutions that support agency business objectives. Serves as both a people leader and hands-on technical contributor, providing architectural guidance, software engineering expertise, and oversight of development teams. Establishes engineering standards, AI development practices, and solution delivery frameworks while collaborating with business partners to identify opportunities for innovation and operational improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, AI engineers, and application developers.

• Design and oversee development of AI-enabled applications, copilots, workflows, and automation solutions.

• Establish software engineering standards, development practices, and code review processes.

• Provide technical leadership for cloud, data, AI, and application architecture decisions.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business needs into technology solutions.

• Oversee rapid application development initiatives using modern low-code, no-code, and traditional development platforms.

• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption strategies.

• Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, accessibility, and governance requirements.

• Participate in software design, development, testing, and deployment activities as needed.

• Manage team workload, priorities, and professional development.

Minimum Skills Required

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.

• 3+ years leading technical teams or development programs.

• Experience with AI/ML technologies, generative AI, Azure AI services, Copilot technologies, or similar platforms.

• Experience with cloud-native application development.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile practices.

• Ability to communicate effectively with executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
