Build the next generation of AI systems

We are representing a highly ambitious, stealth-stage AI research laboratory developing frontier AI systems with the potential to transform scientific research and, ultimately, a much broader range of industries. The team is being built around exceptional researchers from leading academic and technical institutions and is now looking to add outstanding AI researchers who want to work on genuinely difficult, open-ended problems. This is not a conventional applied ML role. The lab is pursuing a broader vision for AI — developing powerful models and systems that can reason about complex problems and ultimately be applied across scientific and industrial domains.

About the Role

As an AI Researcher, you will work on fundamental research problems at the intersection of artificial intelligence and science. You will have substantial ownership over your work and the opportunity to contribute to the development of systems at the frontier of what is currently possible. The initial applications are focused on science, but the longer-term ambition extends considerably beyond this. The team is interested in building underlying technology with applications across multiple domains.

Responsibilities

• The role will involve:
• Developing novel AI/ML models and systems
• Designing and running experiments to test new approaches
• Working on challenging problems where there may be no established solution
• Translating ideas from research into functioning systems
• Collaborating with a highly technical, multidisciplinary team
• Contributing to the longer-term research direction of the company
• Exploring new applications for increasingly capable AI systems

Qualifications

• Strong candidates are likely to have:
• A strong academic or research background
• Experience conducting high-level AI/ML or scientific research
• Evidence of exceptional technical ability
• Experience working independently on difficult research problems
• The ability to move quickly from theoretical ideas to practical experimentation
• A desire to work in an environment where the direction is still being defined

Required Skills

• We are particularly interested in exceptional individuals who combine strong technical ability with genuine intellectual curiosity.

• Another highly quantitative scientific discipline
• A background in biology or biotechnology is not essential. What matters most is exceptional research ability, technical depth and the ambition to work on problems that have not yet been solved.

Pay range and compensation package

• Location: East Coast, US
• Working arrangement: In person
• Compensation: Competitive base salary + equity

The team is deliberately taking a different path from the major technology companies and established AI labs. Rather than focusing solely on scaling existing approaches, the company is exploring fundamentally different ways of building AI systems and applying them to complex problems.
