La Farine Pâtisserie et Café is a growing artisan bakery on Manhattan's Upper West Side specializing in handcrafted breads, viennoiserie, and French pastries.

We're looking for dependable, hardworking individuals who take pride in their craft and want to build a long-term career in artisan baking. We believe in developing our team from within and providing clear opportunities for growth based on performance.

As an Artisan Baker, you'll help produce breads and pastries from scratch while maintaining the high standards of quality, consistency, and hospitality that define La Farine.

Responsibilities

• Execute all stages of production, including scaling, mixing, laminating, shaping, proofing, and baking
• Follow recipes, production schedules, and standard operating procedures with precision
• Produce consistent, high-quality products while meeting daily production goals
• Monitor product quality and communicate issues promptly
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation
• Support overall kitchen operations, including cleaning, organizing, and restocking
• Cross-train across multiple production stations
• Work professionally, reliably, and respectfully as part of a team

Qualifications

• Food Protection Certificate (required; may be obtained after hiring)
• Experience with artisan bread, laminated doughs, or pastry production preferred
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency
• Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Availability for early mornings, weekends, and holidays
• Must be at least 18 years old

Schedule

• Full-time
• Five days per week
• Weekend availability required
• Early morning shifts (typically beginning between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM) or afternoon shifts depending on station assignment

Compensation & Benefits

Starting Pay

• $20.00/hour while working toward your Food Protection Certificate
• $21.00/hour with a valid Food Protection Certificate

At La Farine, compensation is based on demonstrated performance—not simply time with the company.

As you master additional production stations and consistently demonstrate technical skill, reliability, professionalism, teamwork, and accountability, you'll become eligible for performance-based raises and increased responsibility.
