AS400 Developer

AS400 Developer/Admin – Contract

Location: Remote (Rare onsite when needed to client location at Oklahoma City, OK)

Duration: 12+ Months | High possibility of extension

Hours: 20 hours/week

We are looking for an experienced AS400 / IBM i Developer/Admin to support a critical legacy application environment for a state government agency.

What You’ll Do:

• Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot existing AS400/IBM i applications
• Develop and modify code using RPG IV / RPGLE (ILE RPG) and CL/CLLE
• Work with DB2 for i and SQL for data extraction, troubleshooting, and performance
• Support application-level administration including user profiles, security, jobs, job queues, and subsystems
• Troubleshoot production issues, batch jobs, and application problems
• Manage FTP/SFTP integrations with external systems
• Coordinate with the external hosting provider on environment, maintenance, backup, and infrastructure-related issues
• Support legacy data extraction, archiving, documentation, and cloud migration initiatives

Must-Have Skills:

• 5+ years of hands-on AS400 / IBM i / iSeries experience
• Strong RPG IV / RPGLE / ILE RPG
• Strong CL / CLLE
• Strong DB2 for i + SQL
• Experience with IBM i application administration , including jobs, subsystems, security, and user profiles
• Experience supporting production AS400 applications
• Experience with FTP/SFTP or system integrations
• Experience working with a hosted/managed IBM i environment is highly preferred

Nice to Have:

• Legacy-to-cloud migration experience
• RDi (Rational Developer for i)
• Insurance or public-sector experience

Important: This is primarily an IBM i application development/support and application administration role , not an AS400 hardware or OS infrastructure role.

Candidates must be local to Oklahoma City or willing to relocate for the hybrid schedule and must be able to pass a state-required background check.
