Job Title: AS400 Application Developer / Support – Insurance

Location- Malaysia

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced AS400 / IBM i Application Developer & Support professional to support the development, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of insurance applications, particularly insurance and fire insurance products .

The successful candidate will work closely with business users to understand requirements, support application changes and enhancements, coordinate testing activities, and ensure successful deployment of changes into the production environment. The role will also provide technical support and investigation for application issues reported by users or the technical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, enhance, and support AS400 / IBM i applications , primarily supporting insurance and fire insurance product applications .
• Analyse business requirements and coordinate closely with business users / end users to understand application requirements and expected outcomes.
• Translate business requirements into appropriate application changes and technical solutions.
• Perform application development, maintenance, bug fixing, enhancements, and troubleshooting on the AS400 platform.
• Coordinate and support System Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) , and other testing activities with users.
• Assist users in preparing and clarifying testing requirements, test scenarios, and expected results .
• Coordinate application changes from requirement gathering through development, testing, deployment, and production implementation .
• Support and coordinate production deployment of application changes and enhancements.
• Investigate and troubleshoot day-to-day application issues and incidents reported to the technical team.
• Perform root cause investigation and provide appropriate technical solutions or workarounds for application issues.
• Work closely with business users, technical teams, and other stakeholders to resolve application-related problems.
• Maintain appropriate technical and application documentation for changes, fixes, and support activities.
• Ensure application changes are implemented in accordance with established development, testing, and production support procedures.

Key Requirements

• Experience in AS400 / IBM i application development and support .
• Experience supporting or developing insurance applications , preferably Fire Insurance / General Insurance products .
• Good understanding of the insurance application lifecycle and business processes .
• Experience working directly with business users to gather and clarify requirements.
• Experience supporting testing and UAT activities .
• Experience coordinating application changes through development, testing, and production deployment .
• Strong troubleshooting and production issue investigation skills.
• Ability to analyse application issues, identify root causes, and coordinate resolution.
• Good communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as with business and technical teams.

• RPG / RPGLE or relevant AS400 development technologies
• IBM i application development and maintenance
• Application troubleshooting and production support
• Batch processing / job monitoring
• Database knowledge, preferably DB2 for i

Preferred Experience

• Experience in General Insurance
• Experience with Fire Insurance products
• Experience working with insurance policy administration or related insurance applications
• Experience in an environment involving business users, application support teams, and production operations
