Asbestos Manager

Green Way is an Auckland-based demolition, asbestos removal and land remediation contractor with around 70 staff. We work across residential regeneration, commercial demolition and contaminated land projects for government, developers and tier-one contractors.

We're looking for an experienced Asbestos Manager to lead our asbestos division and drive its growth.

This is a Leadership Team role with real commercial accountability. You'll own the division end to end, the work we win, the way we deliver it, the safety of your crews, and the margin at the end of the job. It's yours to shape.

It's a split office and site role. Expect to be on live jobs alongside your supervisors and crews, at the leadership table setting direction, and in front of clients winning the next one.

Growing the division

• Winning work, building relationships with clients, consultants and main contractors, and converting them
• Deciding where the division goes next: new sectors, new capability, new plant and people
• Backing our contracts team on pricing with the methodology, programme and resourcing behind the number, and sense-checking it before it goes out
• Owning job profitability: margin at tender, margin on completion, and the gap between the two

Leading the team

• Building and developing supervisors and crews, including competency pathways and succession
• Owning health and safety for the asbestos division, you're accountable for your people, backed by our H&S support team
• Being our technical authority on asbestos with clients, consultants and WorkSafe

Delivering the work

• Managing all Class A and Class B removals across the portfolio
• Owning removal control plans, notifications, licence conditions and clearance
• Overseeing air monitoring, health monitoring, decontamination, RPE and waste tracking

What you'll bring

• Proven experience managing licensed asbestos removal in New Zealand, including friable works
• NZ Certificate in Asbestos Removal (or equivalent) and current Class A supervisor competency
• Strong working knowledge of the Asbestos Regulations 2016 and the Approved Code of Practice, and experience dealing directly with WorkSafe
• Commercial nous: you know how this work is priced and where jobs make or lose money. You won't build every estimate, but you'll know whether the number stacks up
• A track record of winning work, or the relationships and appetite to start
• The credibility to hold a standard on site under programme pressure, and the judgement to contribute at a leadership level
• Full NZ driver licence

Demolition or civil experience alongside asbestos is a real advantage, as are assessor qualifications.
