What they need

The ASC Administrator provides executive leadership and full operational accountability for the Surgery Center of Chesterfield. This leader will serve as the primary driver of financial stabilization, operational transformation, clinical quality, and strategic growth for the facility. Reporting directly to the System Chief Nursing and Quality Executive and to the ASC Board of Managers, the Administrator is accountable for all aspects of facility performance — from P&L ownership and managed care strategy to workforce stability, quality outcomes, and physician relations. This role demands a leader who thinks like a business executive, operates with clinical credibility, and delivers results in complex, fast-paced environments. The successful candidate will be a disruptor with a bias toward action — someone who can diagnose structural problems quickly, build the right team, and execute a turnaround plan with urgency and precision.

  • Financial Leadership and P&L Ownership

    • Own the full P&L of the Surgery Center of Chesterfield with accountability for net revenue, operating expenses, supply costs, and labor productivity
    • Lead the annual budget process and maintain fiscal discipline throughout the fiscal year with monthly variance reporting to the ASC Board of Managers and hospital leadership
    • Drive CPT-level case placement decisions based on payer contract analysis and margin contribution data
    • Partner with Managed Care and Revenue Cycle to remediate payer contract deficiencies and optimize net revenue per case across all service lines
    • Implement and enforce off-contract purchasing controls; transition supply chain to GPO-aligned purchasing to reduce per-case supply costs
    • Identify and execute opportunities for same-store growth, adjacent service line expansion, and new physician recruitment Operational Excellence and Efficiency
    • Establish and monitor OR efficiency metrics including first case on-time start rate, room turnover time by service line, block utilization rate, and case cancellation rate
    • Lead the transition to Cerner EMR and full integration of administrative functions into the hospital system infrastructure
    • Implement a formal block scheduling accountability framework with defined utilization targets and consequence structures
    • Drive daily operational huddles and weekly performance reviews across all departments with real time data visibility
    • Resolve CST vacancy and eliminate RN scrubbing through targeted recruitment, cross-training, and role clarity
    • Coordinate, schedule, and lead ASC Board of Managers meetings including financial presentations and resolution of board member inquiries Clinical Quality and Patient Safety
    • Own the facility Quality Plan, Infection Prevention Plan, and all seven Environment of Care Plans with active monitoring and accountability
    • Align ASC quality reporting to hospital standards — Quantros-based incident reporting, rate based quality indicators, and external benchmarking
    • Drive reduction in case cancellation rate to below 2% of scheduled cases through pre-op call compliance and scheduling discipline
    • Oversee CLIA waiver compliance and serve as Lab Director
    • Ensure full regulatory compliance with AAAHC/TJC accreditation standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, and state licensing requirements
    • Build a culture of psychological safety and near-miss reporting that supports continuous quality improvement Physician Relations and Strategic Growth
    • Cultivate and maintain strong physician relationships across all surgical specialties performing cases at the ASC
    • Lead physician recruitment efforts to grow surgical volume in financially viable service lines
    • Develop and execute a strategic growth plan aligned to the Value Based Care model including same-store growth and adjacent service line expansion
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the ASC, hospital system leadership, and physician partners Workforce Leadership and Culture
    • Supervise all ASC personnel with direct accountability for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, disciplinary action, and retention
    • Partner with Corporate Human Resources on all human resources initiatives
    • Build a high-performing, accountable team culture with clear expectations, regular feedback, and recognition of excellence
    • Develop the Clinical Coordinator role and invest in leadership pipeline at the charge nurse and department lead level
