What they need

Are you a reflective, relationship-driven practitioner who thrives in complex work and believes healing and recovery happen through connection, consistency, and genuine human care?

RAYS is seeking an Asha Practitioner to join our values-aligned team and help shape one of our most important outreach programs.  The Asha Program supports young people aged 12–25 who are experiencing significant and complex challenges and disconnection from mainstream services and supports. This role combines advanced practice expertise with mentoring and service innovation, grounded in our relational, trauma- and poverty-informed model of care.

About the Role

As an Asha Practitioner, you will:

  • Work alongside a Functional Recovery Manager in a unique two-worker model that integrates therapeutic and psychosocial support.
  • Lead with curiosity and care in outreach settings (homes, schools, parks, cafes, courtrooms) meeting young people where they are.
  • Co-create flexible, youth-led treatment plans that evolve over time, guided by trust, engagement, and the young person’s own goals and pace
  • Subtly apply psychological theory and methods to assess, understand, and support young people with complex needs
  • Hold purposeful boundaries while offering unconditional positive regard, modelling relational authenticity and cultural humility.
  • Contribute to program planning, reflective practice, and interagency collaboration.
  • Commit to a five-day working week (38hr) with the flexibility required to meet young people in community, including some work outside standard hours.

About You

You are:

  • Experienced – Degree qualified with relevant experience in youth, community or allied health fields
  • Grounded in values – You prioritise connection, presence, and integrity in complex work, and model this for others.
  • Reflective and resilient – You sustain your own wellbeing and embed self-care and reflective practice into your own routine and support a sustainable team culture.
  • Inclusive and responsive – You bring cultural humility, a strong commitment to equity, and the ability to engage inclusively across diverse communities.
  • Collaborative – ou work well with colleagues, partners, and systems, contributing to learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What We Offer

  • Salary packaging benefits up to $15,900.
  • Five weeks annual leave per year.
  • A supportive, values-driven culture that invests in your growth, wellbeing, and leadership.
