Position Overview

The Asphalt Foreman is responsible for leading one or more paving crews in the field, owning daily execution, and holding the standard for safety, quality, and professionalism.

This is not a desk job and not a “clipboard foreman” role. You will work alongside your crews, direct operations in real time, and make fast decisions when conditions change.

As the Foreman, you are the authority on the jobsite.

Core Responsibilities

Crew Leadership & Operations

  • Lead daily field operations for paving and maintenance crews
  • Set priorities, assign tasks, and keep production moving
  • Hold crews accountable for attendance, conduct, and productivity
  • Train and develop technicians and operators
  • Address issues immediately and professionally in the field

Safety & Quality

  • Enforce all safety standards without exception
  • Ensure work meets company and project quality expectations
  • Inspect jobsites before, during, and after work
  • Serve as first responder for incidents and complete reports as needed

Planning & Coordination

  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials
  • Adjust plans as conditions change to minimize downtime
  • Communicate clearly with production leadership and ownership
  • Track daily production, hours, and job progress

Hands-On Leadership

  • Operate equipment and assist with labor as needed
  • Lead by example during difficult or high-pressure work
  • Maintain jobsite discipline without yelling, threats, or ego

What This Job Requires

  • Proven leadership experience in demanding, real-world environments
(military, heavy industry, construction, logistics, utilities, or similar)
  • Ability to earn respect through action, not titles
  • Comfort making decisions quickly and owning outcomes
  • Strong situational awareness and safety mindset
  • Reliable attendance and professional conduct
  • Willingness to work long days, heat, and physical conditions

Asphalt experience is a plus—but not required
We will train the right leader who can learn quickly and lead effectively.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • OSHA or safety training
  • CDL
  • Equipment operation experience
  • Prior foreman, NCO, or field leadership experience

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry 50–90 lbs
  • Ability to work long days outdoors in heat and cold
  • Ability to stay alert around crews, equipment, and traffic
  • Willingness to work non-routine hours when required

This Role Is NOT for Someone Who:

  • Leads from a distance
  • Avoids physical work
  • Needs constant direction
  • Lets standards slide to keep the peace

What Success Looks Like

  • Crews run smoothly without constant oversight
  • Jobs are safe, clean, and efficient
  • Employees improve under your leadership
  • Production leadership can trust you to run the field

If you’ve led people in tough environments, aren’t afraid to work shoulder-to-shoulder with your crew, and want real responsibility—we want to talk.

Other offers great for you!
