ASPHALT LAB TECHNICIAN

Asphalt Laboratory Technician

To perform testing, inspection, and quality control of asphalt materials, aggregates, and asphalt mixes to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare samples of asphalt, bitumen, aggregates, and related materials.
• Conduct laboratory and field tests on asphalt materials.
• Perform asphalt mix design and production quality control testing.
• Test aggregates for gradation, specific gravity, moisture content, abrasion, and other properties.
• Conduct bitumen testing such as penetration, softening point, viscosity, and ductility.
• Perform Marshall Stability, Density, Air Void, and Compaction tests.
• Record, analyze, and report test results accurately.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
• Monitor asphalt plant production and compliance with approved mix designs.
• Coordinate with site engineers, QA/QC personnel, and project management teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and laboratory standards.
• Maintain laboratory documentation, reports, and quality records.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
• Certification in asphalt/material testing is an advantage.
• Valid UAE driving license is preferred for field assignments.

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in asphalt laboratory testing and quality control.
• Experience with road construction, highway, airport, or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, BS, and UAE specifications.

Technical Skills

• Asphalt mix design and quality control.
• Aggregate and bitumen testing.
• Laboratory equipment operation and calibration.
• Quality management systems and documentation.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Preparation of test reports and records.
