Responsibilities

• Assist with asphalt paving operations, including spreading and leveling asphalt using hand tools and power equipment
• Operate heavy machinery such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and Caterpillar equipment to support construction activities
• Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting heavy materials, moving supplies, and preparing work zones for paving and road maintenance
• Set up traffic control measures to ensure safety in work zones according to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations
• Conduct routine maintenance on tools and machinery, including welding repairs when necessary to keep equipment in optimal condition
• Follow strict safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies

Skills

• Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and road construction processes
• Ability to perform manual labor involving heavy lifting and the use of hand tools and power tools
• Familiarity with traffic control procedures for work zones in accordance with FMCSA regulations
• Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting and minor repairs of construction equipment
• Experience working outdoors on civil infrastructure or highway maintenance projects
• Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, welding, and construction site hazards
