Summit Construction & Development LLC is looking for an experienced Asphalt Paving Raker to join our paving team. The Raker will assist with asphalt paving operations by performing handwork to ensure asphalt is properly placed, distributed, and finished according to project requirements.

The ideal candidate has asphalt paving experience, understands proper raking techniques, works well around paving equipment, and is comfortable performing physically demanding work in an active construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform asphalt raking and handwork during paving operations.
• Use rakes, lutes, shovels, and other hand tools to distribute and level asphalt.
• Assist with achieving proper asphalt depth, grade, slopes, and transitions.
• Work closely with the Paving Foreman, Crew Leader, Paver Operator, Roller Operators, and other paving crew members.
• Assist with handwork around edges, joints, structures, manholes, curbs, driveways, and areas inaccessible to the paver.
• Identify and correct uneven areas, low spots, excess material, and other paving issues as directed.
• Maintain clean and properly formed edges and joints.
• Assist with asphalt preparation and cleanup before, during, and after paving operations.
• Safely work around pavers, rollers, skid steers, loaders, dump trucks, and other construction equipment.
• Follow directions and maintain consistent communication with the paving crew.
• Keep tools and work areas clean and organized.
• Follow all OSHA, GDOT, company, and jobsite safety requirements.
• Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or other jobsite concerns to the supervisor.
• Perform other paving and general construction duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of asphalt paving experience required.
• Previous experience as an asphalt raker preferred.
• Knowledge of asphalt paving procedures and handwork techniques.
• Experience using asphalt rakes, lutes, shovels, and other paving hand tools.
• Ability to work around hot asphalt and active paving equipment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and changing weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain proper asphalt finish and grade.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a paving crew.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Must be safety-focused and dependable.

Schedule & Availability

• Schedule depends on business and project needs.
• Must be flexible to work day or night shifts as required.
• Some Saturdays may be required.
• Overtime may be required based on project schedules and deadlines.
