Responsibilities

• Adjust screed plates, height, crown, and slope to ensure correct mat thickness, texture, and smooth ride quality.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on paving machinery and heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance**.**
• Monitor the application of bituminous materials to meet project specifications and quality benchmarks. Calculate proper asphalt tonnage for given areas and communicate directly with the asphalt plant or truck drivers to maintain a continuous, even flow of material.
• Adhere strictly to safety regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) guidelines and site-specific safety protocols, fostering a safe work environment.
• Perform pre- and post-shift safety inspections, preheat the screed, and clean equipment after use.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance logs, and project progress reports.
• Enforce OSHA regulations, proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage, and traffic control setups
• Qualifications
• 2 to 3 years in the asphalt paving industry, with specific hands-on experience running a screed or paver.
• Ability to stand, bend, walk, and lift heavy materials (frequently up to 75 lbs) in adverse outdoor weather and high heat conditions
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance on construction machinery.
• Strong verbal communication for teamwork, plus basic math skills to calculate yields, depths, and tonnages.
• A valid driver's license; commercial driver's licenses (CDL Class A or B) may be required depending on project size and transport needs
• Willingness to work extended hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekend shifts as paving schedules demand
• Familiarity with asphalt paving processes.
• Knowledge of safety regulations including DOT standards and construction site safety protocols.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurements and material estimations.

• Pay is determined by experience and qualifications.

Pay: $25.09 - $30.21 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
