SMT Automation LLC is seeking an Assembly Process Technician to support automated assembly operations at an automotive manufacturing facility in Plymouth, Michigan.

We are looking for a hands-on, mechanically skilled technician with experience in manufacturing equipment, troubleshooting, and machine adjustments.

The ideal candidate is proactive, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor automated assembly equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support equipment recovery.
• Perform machine adjustments, setups, and production changeovers.
• Monitor machine parameters, cycle times, and production quality.
• Support industrial robot operations, including robot homing and basic adjustments.
• Assist with robotic glue dispensing systems and equipment changeovers.
• Troubleshoot sensors, screw feeders, and assembly components.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance, cleaning, and equipment inspections.
• Support production teams to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency.
• Follow safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working with automated assembly equipment preferred.
• Familiarity with machine setups and production changeovers.
• Basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
• Technical training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is an advantage but not required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience with one or more of the following is highly valued:

• Industrial robots and robot recovery procedures.
• Robotic glue dispensing systems.
• Vibration or ultrasonic welding equipment.
• Part presence sensors and light curtains.
• Screw feeder systems.
• Pneumatic systems and shot pins.
• Automotive assembly fixtures and tooling.

Pay: $25.02 - $30.13 per hour
