Why Major Projects Major Projects - Cat Rental is a new Caterpillar dealership in the US and Canada — and we're hiring our founding operations team. The Asset Connectivity Specialist role will help ensure the health and location of our rental fleet assets, as well as some customer requests regarding their own assets. If you're ready to build something from the ground up with the Cat brand behind you, this is the role.

We are a new Cat Rental Dealer focused exclusively on the largest construction and infrastructure projects in the US and Canada. Our fleet is on order, leadership is in place, and we're actively pursuing opportunities. Position Summary The Asset Connectivity Specialist provides support to internal and external software users with any request revolving around asset tracking. Reporting to the Asset Analyst, this position will support the utilization of a variety of digital software solutions as well as software billing, tracking analysis, and subscription data visualization. This role will also be responsible for managing end-to-end process execution surrounding asset management, tracking, and reporting, as well as serve as the key support contact to internal and external stakeholders. The position plays a critical role in ensuring all assets are physically accounted for, correctly reporting accurate location data, and maintaining digital subscription services by asset. Our fleet is our biggest asset, so ensuring its health and tracking its whereabouts is essential. Success in this role is defined by accurate asset visibility, reliable health reporting, and trusted support for major project customers.

What You'll Do Asset Data Analysis

  • Review inbound fault code reporting flagged by Caterpillar Condition Monitoring group.
  • Assist with workorder creation/management in conjunction with our Service department standards.
  • Develop inventory tracking reporting and/or dashboards on machine and attachment health and location.
  • Ensure all machines and attachments are reporting health data through various platforms on a timely basis.

Software Subscription Management

  • Perform software installation, configuration and support for Major Projects employees and external customers as needed for appropriate platforms.
  • Support customer software (VisionLink, Si2.0, Cat ET, etc.) billing and communications to internal and external customers.
  • Manage internal and external asset condition monitoring subscriptions
  • Assist with developing and documenting best practice procedures for asset tracking standards and reporting.

Training & Documentation

  • Become the resident expert in associated asset tracking tools (VisionLink, TrackUnit, etc.)
  • Provide training to internal and external customers, when applicable, on navigation and functionality of key asset platforms.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as a subject-matter expert and escalation point for asset tracking and condition monitoring needs.
  • Interface with Caterpillar for updates and technical assistance as required.
  • Collaborate with sales, fleet, transport, and finance teams, and with the local Cat Dealers for service and parts, to ensure consistent execution of asset tracking.
  • Support customer meetings and dealer yard visits as needed to strengthen operational relationships.
  • Promote best practices, process consistency, and continuous improvement across rental operations.

Who We're Looking For

  • Advanced knowledge of Caterpillar and allied equipment, applications, and rental use cases.
  • Strong understanding of major project rental agreements, pricing models, and contract administration.
  • High proficiency in RentalMan and other rental systems, with strong Excel and data skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage complex customer relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage high-volume, high-value rental activity with precision.
  • 3+ years of experience in equipment rental coordination, key accounts, or complex customer operations.
  • Experience supporting major projects, multi-site, or contract-based customers strongly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
