Asset Performance and Modelling Engineer

Position Purpose

At GAMA Enerji, we are looking for a motivated professional to join our Asset Performance & Modelling team and enhance the operational performance of our assets.

The role involves analyzing generation performance, developing and improving forecasting and optimization models, and identifying opportunities to increase revenue, reduce operating costs, and enhance operational efficiency. The candidate will work with diverse datasets, support data-driven decision-making, and contribute to digitalization initiatives across power plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyzing the generation and commercial performance of wind power plants (WPPs) and hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in our portfolio, identifying opportunities to increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve the performance based on generation forecasts, market conditions, and plant constraints,
• Developing and improving forecasting, optimization, and decision-support models using Python and appropriate optimization tools to enhance the commercial and operational performance of power plants, including modelling performance improvement projects and conducting scenario analyses to assess their impact on generation, revenue, costs, and profitability,
• Evaluating model performance by comparing model outputs with actual outcomes, validating results, and implementing necessary improvements,
• Monitoring developments in electricity market regulations, analyzing electricity market dynamics and incorporating relevant changes into models to support operational and commercial modelling and decision-making.
• Preparing regular analyses and reports on market prices, power plant performance, and model outputs; developing automated reporting solutions integrated with company systems using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools,
• Contributing to the development of data infrastructure and digitalization initiatives in coordination with the IT team; supporting data collection, processing and the integration of models and reports into company systems and business processes, to ensure their the effective and sustainable use.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, preferably from a reputable university,
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in electricity markets, energy trading, power generation operations, or data analytics,
• Fluency in Turkish and English, written and spoken.
• Proficiency in Python and MS Excel, with working knowledge of SQL and familiarity with VBA/Macros or similar tools for data processing, analysis, and reporting,
• Ability to develop reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools,
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and modelling skills with a willingness to learn,
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
