Assistant Accountant

Key Responsibilities

Daily Accounting

• Record daily financial transactions accurately.
• Post invoices, receipts, payments and journal entries.
• Maintain proper accounting documentation.
• Assist with daily sales reconciliation for all six stores.
• Reconcile cash, card and other payment collections.
• Identify and report discrepancies.

Accounts Payable

• Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders and goods-received records.
• Maintain supplier statements.
• Prepare payment schedules.
• Follow up on outstanding supplier documents.
• Assist with supplier account reconciliation.

Accounts Receivable

• Record customer receipts where applicable.
• Reconcile delivery/customer collections.
• Monitor outstanding balances.
• Prepare relevant receivable reports.

Bank & Cash

• Assist with daily cash reconciliation.
• Prepare bank reconciliation.
• Monitor deposits and collections.
• Investigate cash variances.

Inventory & Stores

• Assist Finance with reconciliation of:

  • Store inventory.
  • Warehouse inventory.
  • Stock transfers.
  • Purchase receipts.
  • Damaged/expired goods.
  • Inventory adjustments.

• Coordinate with Store Managers and Warehouse personnel regarding discrepancies.

Month-End Closing

• Assist with monthly closing activities.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documents.
• Assist with accruals and adjustments.
• Support preparation of management reports.

Other Duties

• Maintain organized accounting records.
• Support audits.
• Assist with VAT/accounting documentation as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of company financial information.
• Perform other accounting duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.

Experience

• Preferably 1–3 years of accounting experience.
• Experience in retail, grocery, FMCG, warehouse or trading businesses will be an advantage.
• UAE accounting experience is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Good knowledge of accounting principles.
• Good MS Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting software/ERP is preferred.
• Familiarity with POS and inventory systems is an advantage.
• Good understanding of reconciliations and invoice processing.
