Hydraulink is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Penrose. This is a newly created role, established to support our continued growth and strengthen our finance processes, reporting and systems.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play an important role in delivering accurate financial information, providing insight into business performance and identifying opportunities to improve, streamline and automate the way we work.

This is a great opportunity for an accountant who wants more than transactional accounting and is keen to make a genuine impact in a growing business.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting month-end, journals and reconciliations
• Preparing P&L, Balance Sheet and variance reporting
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• Managing bank reconciliations and fixed assets
• Supporting statutory and tax compliance and year-end reporting
• Providing backup across Accounts Payable and Receivable
• Driving process improvement, reporting automation and efficiency

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is:

• An experienced accounting professional with 3+ years’ practical experience
• Qualified in accounting, with CA or CPA study preferred
• Strong across financial accounting, reconciliations and month-end reporting
• Highly capable in Excel, including Pivot Tables and Lookups
• Experienced with ERP accounting systems
• Analytical, commercially minded and solutions-focused
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Confident communicating financial information and building relationships
• Naturally curious and motivated to improve and automate processes

Experience in a medium to large business, particularly one with inventory, multiple locations or NZ/Australia intercompany transactions, would be advantageous.
