Assistant Accountant

About the organisation:
Our client is a well-established and growing organisation within the construction industry, known for delivering quality projects and maintaining strong relationships with their clients and stakeholders. With continued growth across the business, they are now looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their supportive and collaborative finance team.

The role:
Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the wider finance team, you will be responsible for:

· Assisting with month-end reporting, journals, accruals and general ledger reconciliations
· Preparing and completing balance sheet reconciliations
· Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as required
· Processing and reconciling company transactions, including bank reconciliations
· Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and management reporting
· Supporting the finance team with budgeting and forecasting processes
· Assisting with project and construction-related accounting requirements
· Liaising with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve financial queries
· Supporting the Financial Controller and wider finance team with ad hoc accounting tasks and process improvements

The Candidate:
· 2-3 years' experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar accounting position
· Relevant accounting or finance qualification
· Previous experience within the construction, property, engineering or related industries is highly desirable
· Strong understanding of reconciliations, journals and month-end processes
· Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise competing deadlines
· Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
· Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
· Experience with construction or project accounting systems is highly desirable
