Assistant Accountant

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Assistant Accountant to join our growing finance team.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play an important role in keeping the day-to-day finance function running smoothly while assisting with AP function, month-end reporting, reconciliations and improving processes as the business continues to grow.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, wants to develop their accounting skills and is looking to take on more responsibility over time.

About the role

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Completing daily bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Assisting with supplier invoice processing and AP
• Helping with overflow of the Accounts Payable inbox
• Preparing and processing intercompany on-charges
• Reviewing and reconciling general ledger balances
• Assisting with month-end balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting the Finance Manager with month-end reporting and accounting tasks
• Following up outstanding items and ensuring accounts are kept up to date
• Assisting with improving finance processes, systems and controls
• Providing general accounting support across the wider business as required

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in an accounting or finance support role
• Confident with reconciliations and day-to-day accounting tasks
• Organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
• Comfortable working independently but enjoys being part of a team
• Keen to learn and develop their accounting skills
• Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Previous experience with Xero would be highly regarded
