ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

LOCATION: Holborn, London

THE COMPANY

An exciting and fast-growing business within the fashion and creative industry is looking to appoint an organised and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join its finance team.

THE ROLE

Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will support the day-to-day finance function, with a particular focus on accounts payable, payment processing, reconciliations, expenses and maintaining accurate financial records.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing a high volume of transactions and taking ownership of their work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Processing supplier invoices, expenses and credit notes accurately and efficiently
• Supporting payment runs and ensuring payments are processed accurately and on time
• Completing regular bank and account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Processing and reviewing company expenses and credit card transactions
• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Assisting with cashbook maintenance and the allocation of receipts and payments
• Reviewing outstanding balances and helping to resolve aged items
• Responding to finance-related queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Supporting month-end processes, including reconciliations, accruals and reporting schedules
• Assisting with management accounts and financial reviews
• Supporting year-end and audit requirements
• Identifying discrepancies, unusual transactions and outstanding items and escalating where appropriate
• Taking on additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as the business develops

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone with previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Accounts Payable or similar finance position .

You will ideally have:

• Experience with reconciliations and payment processing
• A good understanding of basic accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills
• The ability to manage a high volume of transactions and meet deadlines
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience using accounting or finance software
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• The ability to handle confidential and commercially sensitive information

Previous experience within the fashion, creative, entertainment or similar industries would be advantageous but is not essential.
