ASSISTANT BAKER

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Assistant Baker to support the baker in preparing and producing bread, pastries, cakes, and other baked products. The ideal candidate should be willing to learn, have good attention to detail, and be able to maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and product quality.

Job Description

• Assist the baker with the preparation and production of bread, cakes, pastries, cookies, and other baked products.
• Measure and weigh ingredients accurately according to recipes and production requirements.
• Assist with mixing, kneading, shaping, proofing, baking, and decorating products.
• Prepare baking ingredients, utensils, trays, and equipment before production.
• Operate ovens, mixers, proofers, and other bakery equipment under supervision.
• Monitor baking times, temperatures, and product appearance.
• Assist with decorating, glazing, filling, slicing, and packaging baked products.
• Maintain consistency in the size, taste, texture, and appearance of finished products.
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces, utensils, equipment, and bakery areas regularly.
• Store ingredients properly and ensure food items are protected from contamination.
• Monitor ingredient levels and inform the baker or supervisor when supplies are running low.
• Assist with receiving, checking, and properly storing bakery ingredients.
• Minimize ingredient wastage and ensure efficient use of materials.
• Follow established recipes, production procedures, and food safety standards.
• Ensure proper personal hygiene and use appropriate protective clothing while working.
• Assist with packaging, labelling, and arranging finished products for display or delivery.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Report equipment faults, product defects, or production issues to the supervisor.
• Perform other duties assigned by the baker or bakery manager.

Requirements/Skills

• Proven years of experience in a bakery or food production environment; training may be provided for suitable candidates.
• Basic knowledge of baking ingredients, recipes, and production processes.
• Ability to measure and weigh ingredients accurately.
• Willingness to learn different baking and decorating techniques.
• Ability to operate basic bakery equipment safely.
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Strong hygiene and food-safety awareness.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, shifts, or public holidays when required.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and willing to learn.
• Certificate or training in Baking, Catering, Food Production, or a related field is an advantage.

Pay: ₦75,000.00 per month
