Position Overview

Thirsty Street Brewing Co. is looking for a reliable, hardworking Assistant Brewer to work alongside our Head Brewer in the day-to-day production and maintenance of our brewery.

This is an entry-level, hands-on position with training provided on the job. The right person does not need previous brewing experience, but must be dependable, willing to learn, comfortable with heavy physical work, and take pride in keeping a brewery clean and organized.

This is a labor-intensive position. A significant portion of the job involves cleaning, moving materials, handling kegs and brewing equipment, and supporting the Head Brewer with production tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Brewer with day-to-day brewery production
• Clean and sanitize tanks, brewing equipment, floors, drains, hoses, and work areas
• Assist with brewhouse operations, including moving ingredients and equipment
• Transfer, move, and stack kegs and other brewery materials
• Operate a forklift to move kegs, pallets, ingredients, and other materials
• Assist with keg washing, filling, and organization
• Help receive, move, and organize brewery supplies and ingredients
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized brewery
• Assist with routine brewery maintenance and equipment upkeep
• Follow established safety, cleaning, and sanitation procedures
• Learn basic brewing processes and brewery equipment through hands-on training
• Perform other brewery-related tasks as directed by the Head Brewer

Physical Requirements

This position requires significant physical activity and manual labor.

The successful candidate must be able to:

• Frequently lift and move heavy objects, including kegs and bags of brewing ingredients
• Safely move equipment and materials throughout the brewery
• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and work in tight or confined areas
• Work around water, cleaning chemicals, heat, steam, and brewery equipment
• Perform repetitive cleaning and physical tasks
• Work safely while wearing appropriate protective equipment

Qualifications

Required:

• Reliable and dependable
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Comfortable performing physically demanding work
• Able to follow instructions and established procedures
• Able to work independently once trained
• Strong attention to cleanliness and safety
• Must be at least 18 years old

Preferred, but not required:

• Previous brewery, manufacturing, warehouse, restaurant, or other hands-on work experience
• Forklift experience or certification
• Interest in learning about brewing and brewery operations

Training

No previous brewing experience is required. Thirsty Street will provide on-the-job training in brewery operations, equipment, cleaning and sanitation procedures, safety, and brewing processes.

Forklift operation will be trained according to company safety procedures and applicable requirements.

Schedule

Approximately 15 hours per week, with scheduling coordinated with the Head Brewer.

Some flexibility in scheduling may be required based on brewing and production needs.

We're looking for someone who shows up, works hard, pays attention, and isn't afraid to get dirty. Brewing is hands-on work, and keeping a brewery running requires a lot of cleaning, lifting, moving, and attention to detail.
