Assistant Business Manager (Assistant)

Position Details St John Bosco College invites applications from suitably qualified and values-driven professionals for the position of Assistant Business Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional seeking to broaden their leadership capability and gain valuable experience in school business management within a Catholic education environment. Working closely with the Business Manager, the Assistant Business Manager plays a key role in supporting the financial sustainability and operational effectiveness of the College through leadership of finance operations, payroll administration, financial reporting and business processes.

St John Bosco College is a Catholic co-educational College in its twelth year of operation. The College is situated in Piara Waters, a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. We commenced in 2015 with students from Kindergarten to Year 2. In 2026, we have 1400 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, as well as an OSHC facility. The College motto “JOY IN LEARNING” is strongly exemplified in the person, life and teachings of our patron, St John Bosco.

Essential Criteria

The Successful Applicant Will

• Demonstrate commitment to the ethos and mission of Catholic education.
• Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, budgeting, reporting and financial administration.
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising staff.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial controls and governance requirements.
• Highly developed analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgement.
• Current Working with Children Check and Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School, or willingness to obtain accreditation.

Desired Criteria

• Qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).
• Experience in a school, Catholic education or not-for-profit environment.
• Experience with CEWA financial systems, including Administration of Schools (AOS).
• Experience assisting with payroll administration and compliance processes.
• Experience supporting audits, financial planning and business improvement initiatives.
• Experience leading operational or administrative teams.
