Assistant Compliance Manager

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Compliance Manager (MLRO) to join our Compliance Department. The successful candidate will support and deputise for the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, oversee day-to-day compliance operations and workflow, and help ensure that Amber continues to meet its regulatory and statutory obligations.

This is a hands-on management role requiring strong knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment, particularly FICA, AML/CFT and KYC, together with the ability to lead a team, manage regulatory processes and work effectively across departments.

Key Impact Areas:

• Compliance Operations: Support the CLCO in managing the day-to-day operations, workflow and priorities of the Compliance Department.
• Regulatory Compliance: Help ensure adherence to applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, company policies and Amber's RMCP.
• AML/CFT & KYC: Oversee and support operational compliance relating to FICA, AML/CFT, KYC and associated regulatory processes.
• MLRO Responsibilities: Support the monitoring, investigation, escalation and reporting of relevant money-laundering and financial-crime matters.
• Regulatory Monitoring: Oversee activities including sanctions screening, PEP monitoring, alerts, cash-threshold reporting and regulatory enquiries.
• Reporting: Coordinate and prepare accurate and timely compliance reports and regulatory information.
• Team Management: Manage workflow, allocate responsibilities and support the performance and development of Compliance staff.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal departments, banking partners and regulatory or industry bodies as required.

What You Need:

• Tertiary qualification in Legal, Compliance, Risk, Business or a related commercial field.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant industry and compliance experience.
• Previous managerial/team leadership experience.
• Experience within the banking, payments or financial services industry.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including FICA, FAIS, the Banks Act, National Payment System Act, POPIA and Financial Sector Regulation Act.
• Experience with financial-services compliance standards, regulatory frameworks and reporting.
• Ability to successfully complete the required credit and criminal checks
• Valid Code B driver's licence.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Pretoria, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
