Job Summary

The Assistant Construction Manager supports construction and renovation projects within a government facility. This role assists with day-to-day site oversight, coordination of stakeholders, compliance with codes and safety standards, and reporting—while gaining hands-on experience in federal construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with oversight of ground-up and renovation construction activities
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients
• Conduct regular site visits and monitor daily construction progress
• Support compliance with building codes (IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE)
• Assist with inspections, quality control, and safety enforcement
• Support scheduling, reporting, and documentation
• Assist with oversight of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and building systems
• Promote safety programs and assist with emergency response procedures
• Support energy efficiency initiatives and troubleshooting efforts

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in construction management or site supervision
• Strong understanding of construction methods and building systems
• OSHA certification (required)
• NYC Refrigeration and/or Air Conditioning Operator License (required)
• Universal Refrigerant Certification (required)
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work on-site in a secure government facility
• Preferred: CCM certification
