Job Title: Assistant Construction Manager – Construction Team

About the Role:

Samsung E&C America, Inc. is a leader in high-tech engineering and construction, specializing in complex, large-scale industrial projects—including state-of-the-art semiconductor facilities—that define the future of infrastructure in Texas and beyond. Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and global standards makes us a premier destination for top-tier professionals looking to drive large-scale industrial success.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Construction Manager to join our dynamic construction team in Taylor, Texas. As we lead the construction of a cutting-edge semiconductor foundry project, we are looking for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment, excels in site coordination and document control, and is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and schedule compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site & Subcontractor Coordination: Manage and supervise specific areas of the job site, coordinating closely with General Contractor (GC) and subcontractors regarding daily schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Field Operations & Office Balance: Execute a balanced role dividing time between active site walkthroughs (checking field execution, safety, and quality against plans) and office-based project operations.
  • Document Control & Technical Review: Control, send, and receive vital project documentation with designers, GC, and clients. Review all drawings and technical submittals to ensure absolute accuracy, completeness, and alignment with contractual specifications.
  • Blueprint & Contract Verification: Regularly inspect site conditions using architectural and engineering blueprints to verify that GC and subcontractors perform strictly within contract specifications and time limitations.
  • Technical Documentation Generation: Generate and manage critical project documents, including Requests for Information (RFIs), construction plans, and comprehensive progress reports in coordination with the GC and client.
  • Compliance Management: Understand, enforce, and apply all on-site safety and operational codes, promptly identifying and correcting any instances of non-compliance.
  • Emergency Response: Carry out assigned duties efficiently in accordance with the site Emergency Response Plan during critical incidents.
  • Progress Payments & Billing: Review and process monthly progress payment documents submitted by contractors, follow up on related backup materials, and take responsibility for payment approval tracking.

Qualifications

  • Experience: More than 4 years but less than 7 years of experience in the architectural or construction industry.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in office productivity software, specifically Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with strong general computer literacy.
  • Project Management Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in project management methodologies, document tracking systems, and administrative control.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate instructions clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Language preference: Bilingual fluency in Spanish or Korean is considered a strong plus (not mandatory).

Key Notes & Requirements

  • Industry Experience: Direct experience in semiconductor, high-tech industrial, or major commercial building construction.
  • Specialized Construction: Specialized construction experience in Reinforced Concrete (RC), Precast Concrete (PC) structures, steel structure construction, and interior finishing works.
  • Cost & Financial Understanding: Strong understanding of construction codes and regulations preferred.
  • Structural Calculation: Ability to perform and review standard structural engineering calculations.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Flexibility and availability for required overtime work, overnight shifts, or holiday schedules as project demands dictate.

Location & Type

  • Location: Taylor, Texas (On-site)
  • Job Type: Full-time

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary plus performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Premium medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Paid Time Off: 12 days of annual leave plus 10+ paid public holidays.
  • Meal Services: Complimentary breakfast and lunch (Mon–Fri), with dinner provided during overtime.
  • Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan options.
