Our client, a well-established, global real estate investment management organization, is seeking an Assistant Controller, Asia Funds, to join a sophisticated fund finance team supporting a growing portfolio of Asia-focused real estate investments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Senior Fund Accountant or Fund Accounting professional with approximately 4–6 years of experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility in financial review, reporting, coordination, and process ownership.

The role will provide exposure to complex, multi-jurisdictional fund structures, international investment activity, foreign currency transactions, investor reporting, treasury activities, and cross-border operations.

You will work closely with fund accounting professionals and senior finance leadership, as well as external administrators, auditors, tax advisors, treasury, legal, investor relations, asset management, and portfolio management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support quarterly and annual fund close processes for international fund entities and related investment structures.
  • Review fund accounting workpapers, reconciliations, financial reporting packages, fund analytics, capital account schedules, and investor reporting materials.
  • Help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards, fund agreements, investor requirements, and internal policies.
  • Review and coordinate capital activity, including capital calls, distributions, fundings, drawdowns, acquisitions, dispositions, and related cash movements.
  • Support foreign currency reporting, FX-related activities, multi-currency accounting, and cross-border cash flows.
  • Review recurring fund-level calculations, including management fees, carried interest support, waterfalls, intercompany balances, expense allocations, and investment-level reporting.
  • Coordinate audit, tax, valuation, compliance, treasury, and investor reporting activities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist with recurring compliance and entity-level reporting requirements.
  • Help maintain internal controls, accounting procedures, reporting calendars, workpaper standards, and process documentation.
  • Serve as a key liaison between internal finance teams and external administrators, auditors, tax advisors, legal, treasury, investor relations, and investment teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and support to fund accounting team members on recurring deliverables, close activities, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in special projects involving fund finance, transactions, treasury, investor reporting, and operational initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Approximately 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Background in fund accounting, private equity, real estate, asset management, financial services, or public accounting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fund accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and close processes.
  • Experience reviewing workpapers, financial statements, investor reporting, audit/tax support, capital activity, and fund-level calculations.
  • Exposure to international investment structures, multi-currency reporting, foreign currency activity, or FX hedging is a plus but not required.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate across various stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
