Assistant Controller

GuruNanda LLC – Buena Park, CA
Full-Time | Fully On-Site

Position Summary

GuruNanda is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Assistant Controller to support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of our fast-growing consumer products and manufacturing business.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, experience working in a manufacturing and inventory-driven environment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced organization. This individual will support financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting and forecasting, inventory accounting, and financial analysis while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records.

We are looking for someone who is self-sufficient, organized, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities. The successful candidate will have a "get things done" mentality and be able to identify issues, recommend solutions, and work effectively across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the company.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Analyze financial results, variances, trends, and key performance indicators.
  • Support inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations, costing, adjustments, and related financial analysis.
  • Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with cash flow reporting and monitoring of company financial activity.
  • Help develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed.
  • Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and other departments to ensure accurate financial and inventory information.
  • Assist with external audits, tax reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records within the company's ERP system.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.
  • Assist with special projects and other finance and accounting initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience with inventory accounting and inventory reconciliation.
  • Experience working with ERP/accounting systems required; NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with large data sets, formulas, PivotTables, and financial models.
  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is not someone who needs constant direction. We are looking for a proactive accounting professional who can take ownership of their work, investigate discrepancies, solve problems, and follow assignments through to completion.

This individual should be comfortable working in a growing organization where priorities can move quickly and should be willing to roll up their sleeves and assist wherever needed. Experience within a manufacturing, inventory, consumer products, or similarly fast-paced environment is highly valued.
