Assistant Cost Accountant

Responsibilities

A. Cost Accounting & Cost Analysis

• Assist in preparing cost sheets for furniture products, modular furniture, metal fabrication, and interior projects.
• Calculate and monitor material costs, labour costs, production overheads, and project expenses.
• Analyse actual costs against estimated and budgeted costs and report variations.
• Assist in identifying unnecessary expenses and opportunities for cost reduction.
• Maintain accurate records of product-wise, project-wise, and department-wise costs.

B. Material & Inventory Cost Control

• Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Production, and Project Departments to verify material costs and consumption.
• Monitor raw material usage, wastage, scrap, and stock discrepancies.
• Verify material purchase invoices, goods receipt details, and material issue records.
• Assist in calculating material costs for plywood, laminates, hardware, metal, aluminium, UPVC, and other furniture and interior materials.
• Support stock valuation and periodic inventory reconciliation.

C. Production & Project Costing

• Prepare and update cost statements for manufacturing and interior execution projects.
• Compare estimated material and labour costs with actual consumption and expenses.
• Track site expenses, transportation, installation costs, subcontractor charges, and other project-related expenses.
• Coordinate with the production and project teams to collect accurate cost information.
• Highlight cost overruns, excess material consumption, and deviations from approved estimates.

D. Accounting & Documentation

• Assist in maintaining cost-related vouchers, purchase records, expense statements, and supporting documents.
• Verify bills and invoices relating to materials, labour, transport, and project expenses.
• Support monthly closing activities, cost reconciliation, and preparation of management reports.
• Maintain proper documentation for audit and internal verification.
• Assist in reconciling cost records with accounting and inventory records.

E. Reporting & MIS

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports as required.
• Assist in preparing product-wise and project-wise profitability reports.
• Provide cost data to the Accounts Manager and management for decision-making.
• Maintain Excel-based cost sheets, reports, and cost comparison statements.
• Report unusual cost variations and discrepancies to the reporting manager promptly.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

• Basic knowledge of cost accounting, cost control, and financial accounting.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis.
• Knowledge of Tally or other accounting software is preferred.
• Ability to analyse material consumption, production expenses, and cost variations.
• Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining financial records.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Accounts, Purchase, Stores, Production, and Project teams.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn manufacturing and project costing processes.

4. Educational Qualification & Experience

• B.Com or M.Com in Commerce or Accounting.
• CMA candidates or candidates pursuing CMA will be preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounts, inventory costing, or project costing is preferred.
• Experience in the furniture, modular furniture, manufacturing, interior design, or contracting industry will be an added advantage.

• Accuracy and timely preparation of cost sheets and cost reports.
• Timely identification and reporting of cost variances.
• Accuracy of material costing and inventory reconciliation.
• Timely submission of project-wise and product-wise cost statements.
• Reduction in errors and discrepancies in cost records.
• Timely reporting of material wastage and cost overruns.
• Proper maintenance of cost-related documents and supporting records.
• Effective coordination with relevant departments for cost data collection..

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accounting Assistant who can support cost control and profitability monitoring across our furniture manufacturing and interior contracting operations. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with numbers, Excel reports, material costing, and cross-functional teams, with a strong willingness to learn and improve cost-control practices.

Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
