Assistant Department Manager

Overview

As Assistant Department Manager, you’ll support the department’s day-to-day performance, helping colleagues deliver attentive service and a well-presented retail environment. You’ll work alongside the department manager to coordinate priorities, support sales activity and keep operations organised.

Responsibilities

• Help lead, supervise and develop the team, sharing clear expectations and providing day-to-day guidance.
• Support retail and sales management by monitoring department activity, assisting with priorities and responding to customer needs.
• Coordinate merchandising and presentation so products are displayed clearly and the department remains welcoming.
• Handle administrative tasks, maintain organised records and use good phone etiquette when responding to enquiries.
• Plan tasks effectively, manage time and communicate updates with colleagues and managers.

Experience

• Management, team management or leadership experience is useful; previous supervising experience is preferred.
• Retail management or sales management experience is an advantage.
• Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills are important, alongside administrative experience and professional phone etiquette.
• Multilingual or bilingual abilities are welcome but are not essential.

Pay: £15.75-£17.50 per hour
