What they need

Assistant/Associate Designer – RTW

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Schedule: Full-time, hybrid (4 days in office)

About the Opportunity

A global design firm specializing in apparel design, product development, merchandising, and brand marketing is seeking Assistant and Associate Designers to join its Los Angeles team. This is an exciting opportunity to support ready-to-wear (RTW) design across major retail programs while gaining hands-on experience throughout the creative and product development process.

The team is open to candidates at various stages of their careers, from entry-level talent looking to build a foundation in apparel design to experienced Assistant Designers, emerging Associate Designers, and candidates with a product development background. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable supporting a fast-paced team with a strong focus on execution.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct trend, market, and competitive research to support seasonal design direction.
  • Create sketches and CADs to support the design and development process.
  • Assist with sample tracking, organization, and management.
  • Create and maintain merchandising tools, including line sheets and presentation boards.
  • Track fabric development calendars across multiple programs, ensuring deadlines and details stay organized.
  • Maintain and organize the fabric library, including core fabric references.
  • Support the preparation of design presentations, meetings, and seasonal line reviews.
  • Assist with tech packs, product details, and other design and product development materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contribute to daily projects and evolving business needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Entry-level to early-career experience in apparel design, ready-to-wear, or product development; candidates with approximately 1–3 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Recent graduates and candidates transitioning from product development into design are welcome.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and familiarity with InDesign and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • An understanding of apparel development processes, line sheets, and tech packs is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for supporting a collaborative team.
  • Experience working with overseas vendors or cross-functional teams is a plus.

We encourage candidates who may not fit every traditional design requirement to apply. We’re especially interested in individuals who bring strong execution skills, curiosity, and a genuine interest in apparel design and product development.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • A 401(k) plan with employer matching.
  • A collaborative team environment with transparent leadership.
  • Opportunities for professional development and hands-on exposure to the apparel design and product development process.
  • Team events and a hybrid work environment, with an expectation of working in the office four days per week and occasional additional in-office days during peak periods.

Please submit a resume for immediate consideration.
