ASSISTANT DESIGNER

Beach Riot | Newport Beach, CA

Beach Riot is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Assistant Designer to support our design team in conceptualizing, developing, and executing innovative designs across our Active and Apparel collections. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fashion, with a strong eye for trends, color, and print, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner with Senior Designers on all aspects of design and product development across Active and Apparel categories.

• Manage category-specific SMU (Special Make-Up) requests.

• Research and identify relevant fashion, color, print, and market trends for Beach Riot.

• Source fabric, trim, and print inspiration to support seasonal concepts.

• Sketch new designs under the direction of Senior Designers.

• Create style numbers, tech packs, and construction pages for handoff to the Technical Design team.

• Update tech packs, line sheets, seasonal trackers, and CAD libraries.

• Assist with lab dip reviews, print strike-off comments, and color approvals.

• Create seasonal color palettes in Adobe Illustrator.

• Prepare print and artwork files, assist with graphic development, and recolor existing prints.

• Attend fittings, document feedback, and track design revisions.

• Maintain and organize seasonal binders, submissions, approvals, and fabric headers.

• Communicate proactively with cross-functional teams to ensure deadlines and seasonal milestones are met.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.

• Relevant experience in apparel design and product development; activewear experience preferred.

• Graphic design and textile art experience preferred.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.

• Strong creativity, sketching skills, and an eye for color, print, and detail.

• Solid understanding of garment construction.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

• Self-starter with strong communication skills, initiative, and a sense of urgency.

• Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION DETAILS

Location: Newport Beach, CA

Schedule: Hybrid, with four days per week in the office

Compensation: $24–$25 per hour
