Assistant Dietary Manager

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Dietary Manager to support the leadership of our dietary services team within an assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of food service management, clinical nutrition, and health regulation policies. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of residents by ensuring high standards of nutritional care, food safety, and operational efficiency. The Assistant Dietary Manager will play a vital role in supervising food production, managing budgets, and implementing care plans aligned with residents’ health needs.

Duties

• Assist in overseeing daily food service operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and state health codes. Must be able to be on call alternating with dietary manger. Must be able to fill in for all positions and shifts.
• Support management of dietary department staff, including supervising food service teams and managing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that incorporate nutritional requirements and medical considerations.
• Monitor food safety management practices, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to maintain a safe environment.
• Assist with budget management by tracking expenses, controlling costs, and optimizing resource utilization for food production.
• Conduct patient assessments related to nutrition and physiology to inform dietary adjustments and tube feeding protocols.
• Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation of care plans, dietary progress notes, and compliance reporting.
• Support training initiatives on health regulation policies, food service health code compliance, and food safety standards for staff members.
• Participate in diagnostic evaluations of residents’ nutritional status and contribute to the development of personalized nutrition strategies.
• Promote a team-oriented environment that emphasizes leadership, continuous improvement, and resident-centered care.

Experience

• Proven experience in assisted living settings or similar long-term care environments with a focus on dietary services.
• Strong background in managing food service teams within a healthcare or clinical nutrition context.
• Demonstrated knowledge of health regulation policies, food safety management, and EHR/EHR systems related to dietary documentation.
• Supervisory experience supervising dietary staff or food service teams in acute or long-term care settings.
• Ability to interpret and apply care plans effectively while maintaining compliance with health regulations and policies.

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
